  • The Truth About Silk Duvet Covers

Posted by admin on February 2nd, 2010 and filed under Uncategorized | No Comments »

Who does not dream about sleeping in luxurious silk bedding… and one famous piece of this bedding is silk duvet covers. If you’re unfamiliar with silk duvet covers, they are filled with silk fiber and covered in a jacquard cotton. So what makes these so great if you never get to feel the silk inside?

It’s a great question and it just so happens that silk duvet covers are the very best you can get… even better than the down of goose and duck.

First, these silk duvet covers are drastically less likely to cause allergenic reactions. Silk naturally repels dust mites, mold, and fungus. But because of the cotton you might have very minimal reactions. However, if you keep them very clean then you should be good to go.

Second, silk fibers will not breakdown nearly as fast as synthetic and down duvet covers. When this happens, the synthetic and down duvet covers will get lumpy, lose their warmth, and they will also lose their appearance.

Silk duvet covers are much more durable so they will last much longer. That fact will really help you justify the extra cost of a silk duvet cover. When you really look at it, you could go through two down duvet covers before you ever go through one silk duvet cover. When you look at it that way, it’s much less expensive to spend the extra money upfront for the silk duvet cover.
