When you decide that you want to build a deck, the first thing you usually do is start looking for ideas or plans. Don’t overlook some obvious places.
* Home improvement magazines. Deck building is a popular project, so you’ll get plenty of ideas here.
* Home project books. Your library will probably have a number of books you can check out. Don’t ignore this free resource.
* Home improvement centers. These people want to sell you the materials so they are often very helpful. Some even run classes or presentations on home improvement projects such as building a deck. Look for one of these and sign up.
Building a nice deck is time-consuming, but it’s not a difficult project for the do-it-yourselfer with average carpentry skills and the willingness to follow instructions. Good luck!
