i've had to use them on occasion and yes they do dampen your sexual feelings. don't push him about it, but do mention it to the doctor as they can change meds and that may help. once i came off the meds things got back to normal fairly quickly.

Most all anti-depressants take away your sexual drive I have been on many. There are two I know that don't Cymbalta & Wellbutrin I take Wellbutrin. Talk with his Dr. I hate to see a young couple start out like this but in the meantime keep him reassured, it isn't his fault and make sure he stays on the medicine.

The side effects are very real and affect almost every person who takes anti-depressants. However, in young people such as you seem to be, it is less of a problem. You probably won’t really notice much of a difference unless you keep him under a microscope and THAT can kill desire faster than anything else I can think of!!! In my experience…we tend to get what we expect…because we ’select’ for it…so if you go looking for trouble…you’ll find it. well all i can tell you is my own experience……My husband take s antidepressants…and well it have really effected him…..I was hard on me for a bit …but i had to take a step back and realize it wasn’t me…..Yes its hard as hell and i have even thought having a "friend"…..I know that’s wrong…..At the end of the day i love my husband and all i want is for him to feel better…..
Give the meds about a month and if you notice a lack…you and him go talk to his doctor…..There are others meds to help…..unfortunately my husband has a medical condition so he cant take the other meds….Just hang in there……You didn’t marry him just for the intimacy……And don’t stress it might not even effect him in that way….If you need to talk you can email me….

I don’t want to scare you, but this definitely happens. It can have long term affects, even once you go off of the meds. I don’t know the details behind why your fiance is on antidepressants, but they weren’t worth it to me. They didn’t make enough of a difference. But that’s just me. I’m certainly not recommending he not go one them!
Be patient with him if it happens. Don’t take it personally. Be there for him. Just don’t overthink it .

Hi. I’ve been on anti depressants for ages and I can tell you that it really makes a big difference to how sexy I feel. In fact….I feel ‘dead’ from the waist down. I would not put expectations on him and enjoy the kisses and cuddles to not make him feel like a total failure…like my ex did. You seem to care very much about him and I hope he starts to feel better soon! xx
