GQ Magazine was started back in the year 1931 when its history in the United States began. Lets find out how this men’s fashion magazine took the United States by storm. Initially the publication was called Apparel Arts and then changed to Gentleman’s Quarterly in 1958. When it was first released the magazine was intended to attract wholesale buyers and retailers but eventually targeted a larger audience. Dramatic changes were afoot in 1979 when Conde Nast Publications took over the magazine and the editor of the time, Art Cooper began changing the material published. He decided it was time to include topics that were interesting to men as well as the already present fashion articles. If you pick up GQ Magazine today you will find articles about a wide variety of topics like sex, fitness, the latest technology and who knows what else.
