Posted by admin on March 8th, 2010 and filed under Pets | No Comments »

Adding a few bottom feeders to your aquarium can be a great addition to your tank. Bottom feeders spend most of their time at the bottom of your tank foraging for food. These fish help reduce the leftover food that is not eaten during feeding, and settles at the bottom of your tank. There are a variety of types of bottom feeders. Like the plecostomus, This fish is an algae eater and is quite shy. They are always hiding and eating algae off the glass and picking scraps from the gravel. It’s like having an aquarium cleaner on duty 24 hours a day!

    Time for a water change?

Posted by admin on March 7th, 2010 and filed under Pets | No Comments »

    Is your aquarium looking murky?
Could be time for a water change. Changing the water in your tank is an important part of maintaining your aquarium. Good quality water will help your fish stay healthy and plants flourishing. There are a few things you should have before you change your water. Water strips to check the various characteristics of the water and a vacuum system. The vacuum is nothing more than a plastic hose with a special fitting to lift gravel but sucking up only water. I woulud suggest using water that has been treated for reverse osmosis. This water is available at most water vending machines in grocery stores.

There are a wide variety of breeds of fish out there to fill your aquarium. Along with a wide variety of breeds there are all sorts of cross bred fish that can be a blessing or a curse. Some of these cross breeds can be quite beautiful, but in some cases, this cross breeding may also weaken a fishes natural immune system to fight off diseases. I have loved angelfish, there is one type that I find quite beautiful it is a golden finned angelfish. This fish still seems quite hardy and is some kind of a cross breed. If you’re not sure what you are buying as far as breed try to find out as much as you can before purchasing the fish.

The Rottweiler is a strong, peaceful, obedient, and courageous dog that loves is owner and family. They are very loyal dogs and can be very protective if provoked. They will not hesitate to defend themselves, or their family if need be. Rotties are very smart dogs and work with the police and military. Due to their large size, training should begin as a puppy. They need plenty of guidance and socialization in order to act normally. It is also necessary that they are given the freedom to roam around their area, so an apartment will probably not work out well with this breed.

The Benefits of a Waterproof Dog Coat

Posted by admin on February 1st, 2010 and filed under Pets | No Comments »

It has been a particularly brutal winter. What we sometime forget is that just because Dogs have their own in-built Dog Coat doesn’t mean that they are necessarily warm on cold winter days. Cold weather and frosty winds can have exactly the same effects on Dogs as it has on humans. If your dog is anything like mine then he will be at his happiest when he is exploring the greatest outdoors. But when it is cold outside your Dog won’t be as happy doing the things that they love. Also, just as with humans, being cold will be detrimental to their long term and short term health.

The answer is to buy your Dog a high quality Waterproof Dog Coat. There is a tremendous range of Dog Coats on the market these days at great prices. A high quality Waterproof Dog Coat will help keep your Dog nice and warm during these cold months allowing them to play outside and keep them as happy during winter as they are in the warmers seasons. With a high quality well fitted Waterproof Dog Coat your Dog will not even know they are even wearing it.

Another important point is that a Dog Coat can help protect your Dogs natural shiny coat from the elements. A shiny coat is a sign of a healthy dog. For this reason a Dog Coat can also be useful for summer months as well winter months.

To make sure that you have the correct sizing for your Waterproof Dog Coat measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. Make sure you get an exact measurement as a Dog Coat that is too small might not be able to be strapped up securely. A loose fitting Dog Coat will be too baggy and if the coat is not fitted snugly to your dog it is likely that an adventurous dog will end up getting it caught up on all sorts of things. I once heard a story about a dog owner who was concerned that there dog was lost on the trail when they hadn’t come back after running off. Turns out after much searching their Dog had caught their Dog Coat on some of the overhanging shrub and weren’t able to free themselves. All this because their Dog Coat was the wrong size.

A Waterproof Dog Coat isn’t just a cool looking fashion accessory. It can help keep your Dog warm and happy and can protect their natural coat which helps with their long term and short term health. So when you are going out in the cold this winter, through your coat on to keep warm and make sure that your Dog is also suitably attired.
