You might ask yourself what a DVD is exactly. That’s a completely normal question, and don’t feel odd about asking it. In fact, for something so common in all of our homes and day to day lives, it’s surprising just how few people actually know what the DVD is anyways.
A DVD is really nothing more than an optic data storage disc for video, audio, and computer data. It really just boils down to being a better, bigger, faster CD that can hold a lot more information, including the movies and video’s that they are famous for. They eventually spawned the HD DVD and corresponding HD DVD Players.
A Touch Lamp is a lamp that you can turn on and off with the simple flick of a wrist and tap with a finger. It works by means of your body’s own stored electrical charge. See all of our bodies contain a small electrical charge that we carry with us all day long.
When we touch a touch lamp that charge passes from our finger tips and into the body of the touch lamp. From there, that same electrical charge activates or flips the internal switch that will turn the touch lamp on or off. It’s not magic, it’s just science – but it’s still fun to watch!
Home theaters are based on one of two kinds of technology—projection and High-Def TV. Both have their own advantages.
Projection-based equipment features screens up to 150 inches—this is the real big-screen theater experience. Think about your room and the experience you are looking for before you decide on a system.
High-def tv’s now-a-days run up to 70 inches themselves but they come at a price. For the price of a 70″ TV you can pick up an entire home theater projection system and speakers. On the other hand if your price range is around $2000 you can pick up a 50-60″ DLP or rear projection TV which may suit your needs. If you already have a 50″ plasma or LCD tv and you want a real home theater its time to upgrade to a projector. For as little as $1000 you can pick up a nice 1080p projector. It’s all about the size of your room and what kind of experience you are looking for. Remember, even 1080p can show pixels in the picture if you are sitting too close to a 100″ screen. For small rooms you might be better off investing in a nice 50″ plasma.
