my friends wife is suing a hardware store she worked at a year ago on the grounds of sexual harrasment. the story goes that a during closing a male co-worker groped her breast. she told the company and they confonted him. he admitted to what he had done and apologized. they did not fire him for this so she quit and went to the human rights commision and filed a lawsuit against said company. at the first hearing they had an opportunity to settle for $5,000 and they said no on the grounds that she was overlyflirtatious and led this guy on, so they keep going back to settle and everytime the settlement cap (now about 300,000) gets higher and they refuse to settle even though they were found guilty in her favor. it seems ridiculous to me that she should get over a quarter of a million for this and it has had negative effects on my close friend her husband. imwondering why this company refuses to settle and if she evenhas a case at all i hate suehappy opportunistic people, btw this is in ME
by the way my personal stance is yes the guy should have been fired and i in no way think its okay or that she wa asking for it i just think these laws were put in place to protect people from unwanted advances not to provide people with an undeserved amount of money they didnt earn as a payoff i feel its a miscarraige of justice. i know this woman is an opportunistic person and has sued for a slip and fall at dunkin donuts this year and has commited consumer fraud so i may be biased on this case i just find it laughable that this instacne warrents the aforementioned compensation. that sets a precedent for people to manipulate the law in order to sue companies where this happens and yes they should have fired him.

HR for years….very large company……..I would have fired this guy immediately………their insurance company is stalling…..this could and most likely will go on for years…hang in there….your friend will do well……but its gonna be a BIG fight……

I just thought that for that last sentence, if you don’t say ’sexual harassment’ in each phrase and instead say ‘it’ you shouldn’t just randomly place ’sexual harassment’ in the last world. Otherwise, good job.

i have orientation 2 days before i start. i know that my school requires black pants, black shoes, and black shirt. But for a 2 hour orientation, can i wear jeans?

However, male cats (and males of other species) do sometimes mount other males as a sign of dominance. It isn’t about sex, it is about dominance.

My boss touched me on my buttocks twice within a 3-4 week timeframe. I didnt report him bcz I was afraid of what would happen to my position and I also didnt want to go through the drama and hassles involved in situations like this, I also did not want to get HIM into trouble and cause him to lose his job. However, after the 2nd time he touched me, I confronted him and he apologized but I felt uncomfortable being around him after that and I reported him. I’ve since been taken off of my job working for him and I am working elsewhere within the firm, they are handling him (I dont know what’s going on yet but he’s received calls and things ARE going on right now as I type this question). What I want to know is, do I have a sexual harassment case regardless of whether the firm is doing their part or do I have to wait to see whether he’s fired or resigns, what are my options, what happens in cases like this and what options do I have? Do I do a lawsuit anyway?

If they are taking care of him, then it may be better to avoid further controversy.
