i was constantly sexually harassed for 1 year, and called stupid and incompetent. I am th eonly female working there. And they said they would fire me after christmas. Needless to say my self esteem has been shattered after having been abused by these white men at work. Sometimes I wonder if they would have abused another girl that was not Asian. A physician whom I was a patient of, began sexually harrassing me for the duration of our doctor/patient relationship. I then started to bring my husband with me once I felt this harrassement was getting out of control. A few months later, I fired the physician from treating me. He is a specialist and it is difficult to find a good specialist in this particular field, which is why I put up with it as long as I did (about 7 months). What is the first step I need to take, and will I be taken seriously, since I waited 6 months after firing him, to file a lawsuit?

Report him to your State Medical Board.

I think if you get involved with someone at work, a waiver should be signed.
Although this is not doable/provable, I would go as far as saying if you even flirt with someone, you should sign a waiver.

There is no legal action that can be taken in this situation. The only thing that can be done is the people’s employment will be terminated.

What they are doing is immoral, not illegal. The only thing that could possibly be done is the company could be charged with neglect, but it takes a lot in most states to constitute patient neglect.

It seems that all relationships between gay people move faster than heterosexual relationships: the first kiss, making love, and most importantly, moving in together. Why do you think that is ?
I don’t mean to generalize. Of course there are people who rush things in both kinds of relationships, and people who take it slow. My impression, however, according to most homosexual relationships that I have seen, is that they move faster.

I think a certain part of it is that some of us may feel like there is no reason to take it slow. Up until recently we didnt have the right to get married anywhere. Even though a few states have legalized it, many others have officially banned it. Many states have laws against gay adoption. Some of us just feel like if there is no chance for us to be together and function as a couple, why should we live by heterosexual standards of moving slow, waiting until marriage (That we cant even have) to have sex, waiting until marriage to move in, or even monogamy. Those are all heterosexual practices, and heterosexuals always want to make it clear that we arent the same and dont have a right to be the same. So from my view point, why try? I support and fight for equality laws in marriage and adoption and hate crimes and everything else. But why on earth should I wait for marriage to have sex when Im not even allowed to get married to a woman?

But, that is the more cynical view. The more empathetic view, I think is that we just tend to be more open about stuff. We have all had to think about and come to terms with things about our sexuality that straight people dont have to. Maybe a part of it is that during this coming to terms, we just end up far more comfortable with sexuality than other people do.

Although, I know plenty of heterosexuals that do the same things listed in your post. I dont know that its actually fair to say gay people do it more.

Some people have physical beauty and don’t have sexual beauty some vice versa.
PS: Sexual beauty is related for men to have muscles(to be sexy) and for women to have shapes(sorry for the rude word don’t anger on me)…to be sexy.

EDIT: I’m not amused and very disappointed by some childish, wise-crack answers posted by some of the users, if you’re not mature enough to understand how sexual harassment is taking such a steep psychological toll on the victims, I suggest that you steer clear of spewing stupidity before you insult the victims as well as yourself.

It’s very hard to prevent such a thing, seeing as the other person decides to act in such a way, and you can’t control it. The only way you could avoid that really would be to take another mode of transportation; one that isn’t so overly-crowded. That sounds lame, but it’s better than walking around with a sign around your neck that says "Stay back 20 feet. I just ate a bean burrito."

If I am using a circular polarizer on a digital SLR, I heard that a rotating lens element will rotate the polarizer and it will basically make it useless. As I understand optics, a circular polarizer basically changes the phase between the electrical and magnetic field.

1. Am I right in saying that a cirucular polarizer is basically a linerar polarizer + a quarter wave (QW) plate.
2. So, its the rotation of the linear polarizer element which causes the problem, since it can either polarize or not-polarize (according to the orientation).

Any suggestions, links, etc.?

You are correct in both of your assumptions. The QWP needs to have the polarization axis of the incoming light be fixed at 45 degrees to its optic axis for it to produce circularly polarized light. As long as both elements of the circular polarizer rotate together it will produce CP light. Unless the CP is two separate elements, one on the front of the lens and one at the back, somehow mounted to the camera body so it can’t rotate with the lens, what you were told isn’t true.

People keep saying that a marriage is the best social invention we have come up with because it is best to provide an environment conducive to raising children and thus is invaluble as far as keeping together our moral fiber as a people. But far as I can tell even if straight parents were better than homosexual ones, its better for a child to have two moms or two dads than to be a ward of the state. What prooves that I’m wrong?

There is no proof that states homosexual parents are bad for children. Children need loving homes whether they be straight or gay. It is people of the "moral majority" who think everything is a sin. but it is better to have parents that love you, shelter you and want you than no parent at all. there is no proof in the bible that says "thou shall have heterosexual parents".
